La Jornada «Proposals to improve the emotional well-being of young adults in the digital society: future challenges, risk and protective factors», held on November 29, 2024, addressed the main emotional challenges faced by young adults in the current social and digital context.
The conference focused on a vital stage, approximately between the ages of 18 and 27, marked by significant processes of change and personal maturation.
The need to build one's own identity, develop the ability to cope with frustrations, and establish healthy emotional and social relationships was emphasized.
Current economic, labor, and social uncertainties can increase emotional vulnerability and generate a negative perception of the future.
In this context, the digital environment plays an increasingly decisive role in the daily lives of young adults.
The conference analyzed both the opportunities offered by digital technologies and the risks associated with their excessive or problematic use.
Special emphasis was placed on behaviors such as compulsive use of social media, video games, gambling, pornography, or online shopping.
These behaviors can affect mood, personal relationships, studies, work, and even personal finances.
In view of these realities, the importance of identifying risk factors and enhancing protective factors and coping capacities was emphasized.
The Conference thus contributed to generating a space for reflection and debate on how to promote emotional well-being and prevent mental health problems in young adults within an increasingly digitized society.
