La Jornada «Digital society and mental health», held on November 27, 2020, was the day prior to the 7th Catalan Mental Health Congress and coincided with the 20th Anniversary of the CCSM Foundation.
The meeting brought together a broad representation of professionals, sector organizations, professional associations, and public administrations.
In a first panel, the trajectory of the Foundation over its twenty years of activity and its contribution to the field of mental health were reviewed.
A second panel presented the contents and main thematic axes of the 7th Catalan Mental Health Congress.
The debate focused on the relationship between digital environment and mental health, with special attention to children and adolescents.
Both the opportunities of digital technologies and their capacity to promote the connection and support of traditionally isolated groups were analyzed.
At that point, the possible negative effects on the emotional well-being, learning, and social relationships.
The health crisis of the COVID-19 will further reinforce the relevance of this debate and the need to address its mental health implications.
The Conference made it possible to share perspectives and begin to delve into the risks and opportunities of the digital society.
Thus, it became a starting point for 7th Catalan Mental Health Congress, dedicated to analyzing the challenges posed by digital transformation.
