STATEMENT AGAINST VIOLENCE AND IN FAVOR OF DIALOGUE

In view of the brutal police repression in Catalonia against people of all ages, who gathered in a totally peaceful manner, defending and exercising their democratic right to vote, the Board of Directors of the Catalan Foundation for Mental Health Congress,
MANIFESTA:
- Our complete rejection of the violent performance carried out by the State Government on October 1, 2017.

For this reason, we offer ourselves, along with other professional entities (jurists, historians, experts in situations of collective confrontation...), to foster and implement a mediation procedure with the help of international experts.
We understand that a situation which violates human rights and can affect collective mental health involves the responsibility and competence of mental health professionals as well, who have a place in such a significant matter.
