From the Working Group on Children and Youth of the Catalan Congress of Mental Health Foundation (FCCSM), we raise our voices to denounce the atrocities suffered by the Palestinian population, and especially by children and adolescents.
We make an urgent call for everyone's solidarity and demand an immediate halt to the genocide that the Government of Israel is perpetrating against the Palestinian people. We denounce with particular force the barbarity inflicted on girls, boys, and young people, citizens with full rights and part of a future that is being snatched away from them.
From experience, we know that the traumas experienced by survivors will leave deep scars on their subjectivity, social bonds, and trust in respect for human rights, which are also children's rights.
Jorge Drexler said it very clearly: “There are no ‘yours’ or ‘theirs’ or ‘mine’. If they are children, they are ours. All children are ours.”
We should also remember the figure of Dr. Janusz Korczak, a great defender of children in the Warsaw Ghetto.
It is essential that the rights recognized in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), adopted by almost all states in the world, including the State of Israel.
I demand that this Convention be applied in a real and unquestionable manner, and we call for clear and forceful action from the Spanish State and the international community to put an end to this barbarity and impunity.
