To address mild cases, Health is tripling the number of psychologists, psychiatrists, and nurses in primary care centers.

The Department of Health triples the number of specialist professionals in mental health and addictions in primary care centers in Catalonia.

This project began in 2007 but was halted due to the economic crisis. In one year, the number of new mental health specialists has been tripled, increasing from 100 to 300. This ensures that all primary care centers in Catalonia are staffed by a team of mental health and addiction specialists, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and nurses from mental health centers (both adult and child), who work collaboratively with primary care professionals.
The objective is to increase early detection of cases and improve community outreach. In the same vein, Health aims to promote a model that avoids drug use and increases psychological care.
