I am pleased to participate in the commemoration book for the 20th anniversary of the Catalan Congress of Mental Health Foundation, an organization that was born with the intention of transmitting the interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and comprehensive nature of mental health care in our country. From the beginning, it brought together professionals from different disciplines and fields, reflected in the involvement of various professional associations such as the College of Physicians of Barcelona, the College of Psychologists of Catalonia, the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona, the College of Social Work of Catalonia, and the College of Social Educators.

The challenge It was very important: to generate a deep debate on the mental health care model from a comprehensive and integrated perspective that considered social awareness, mental health promotion, prevention, specialized care, and also recovery and social inclusion. Debates that, beyond the health field, have incorporated the social, educational, judicial, and labor fields, and where values and concern for people's rights and care ethics have been an imperative.

These reflections have been carried out from a global perspective of Mental Health and society, also incorporating the vision of philosophy, sociology, and anthropology in this broad view of the concept of mental health, and also focusing on care for populations in situations of special vulnerability.

Likewise, considerable effort has been dedicated to the continuous and cross-functional training of professionals, in order to integrate a true bio-psycho-social approach to mental health care, as well as collaborative work with other entities and, especially, with family representative associations and individuals with lived experience.

Also, I want to highlight the collaboration with the different administrations both from the Government of the Generalitat, as well as local administrations and their active participation over these 20 years in the Advisory Council on Mental Health and Addictions.

The FCCSM has accompanied me throughout all the years I've been fortunate to work in the Department of Health, during key moments such as the development of the Mental Health and Addictions Master Plan in 2006, with the involvement and participation of the entire sector, and also in 2016 with the redefinition of the Mental Health and Addictions Strategies 2017-2020 and the active promotion of the community care model. It also accompanied me during difficult times for health and social services as a consequence of the severe economic crisis, which had a very significant impact on the population's mental health.

There have been numerous meetings and encounters with the administration, involving intense debate, not always with shared visions, but with a constructive and collaborative objective in favor of improving mental health care in Catalonia. In this regard, I want to express my gratitude to all the people who have led the CCSM Foundation over these years, including Dr. Àngels Vives, Dr. Josep Clusa, and Mr. Josep Vilajoana, as well as the boards and the management under Mr. Victor Martí.

However, allow me to keep a special memory for Dr. Josep Clusa, to whom I unfortunately will no longer be able to express this gratitude in person, for his collaboration, his availability, his honesty, his public service vocation, and his support during the years he was president.
