The Platform for the Defense of Public Mental Health Care in Catalonia is a movement made up of professionals involved in public mental health care. It was created out of growing concern about the current and potential consequences of budget austerity policies. The Platform is therefore founded with three objectives:

  1. improve the information on the consequences of budget cuts
  2. ensure the quality of public services
  3. ensure dignified working conditions for its employees
  4. Promote the participation and involvement of network professionals.

The Platform aims to be a space for free and multidisciplinary thought, open to exchange and cooperation with other citizen and health-related collectives.

The planned approach is for the Platform to be a lightweight structure and for its work plan to be adjusted to limited and realistic objectives that we can gradually take on in each of the editions that we agree on as a Platform.

This new initiative is part of the Movement that has been driven at the state level since the Atocha Declaration. At the Catalonia level, its Steering Group is comprised of representatives from:
