The Other Festival
International Festival d‘Performing arts, mental health, and popular culture
From its beginnings, we have supported L’Other Festivals, is an international cultural event that promotes collaboration between two sectors: the Performing Arts and Mental Health. Its objective is to achieve the well-being and inclusion of people with and without mental health issues through the performing arts, and to raise awareness about the reality of mental health in society.
The festival's programming is based on Artistic proposals created, starred in, or related to people with diverse mental health experiences, while seeking interaction among professional, non-professional and amateur performances.
Some names that have already been part of Altre Festival are Joan Manuel Serrat, James Rhodes, Toni Mira, Marta Carrasco, Los Galindos, Stalker Teatro, Pallapupas, Accademia della Follia, Teatro do Mar, Cabo San Roque i Mark Lockyer_ ATC Company, among others.
This project is led by the Socio-Cultural Association l’Altre Festival, a non-profit organization whose main objective is to promote the creation and maintenance of Performing Arts related to the field of Mental Health.

Platform for the Defense of Public Mental Healthcare in Catalonia (PSM).
The Foundation, along with other organizations and professional groups, has promoted this platform that fights for the defense of a public and quality mental health model.

Premi Xarxart
It is well known the relationship between art, in its forms of painting, sculpture, literature or music, for example, and mental health. Through artistic performance, People experiencing emotional difficulties or mental health problems can find genuine forms of expression that help channel their distress or suffering; this is then referred to as therapeutic effects.
The Congress of Mental Health Foundation, with its integrated vision for patients and professionals of varying sensitivities, maintains the firm purpose of working towards overcoming the stigma surrounding mental disorders and for a sincere appreciation of all artistic expressions arising from people with mental health problems.
The Xarxart project was born with the first edition of the Catalan Congress of Mental Health, held in Barcelona in 1999. From the outset, we considered the link between art in its different expressions (painting, theater, music, etc.) and mental health to be important. Subsequently, and in each of its editions, the Xarxart Award has continued to be awarded.

10th Anniversary Fccsm – 2000 / 2010
On the occasion of the Foundation's 10th anniversary, a Conference was held on December 15, 2010, at the Auditori Axa in Barcelona, with the aim of commemorating the Foundation's 10 years, recalling its foundational and structuring principles, and discussing some current and future topics.
