Who are we?

The CEA was established in 2003 within the framework of the Catalan Congress of Mental Health Foundation.

Among its objectives are the review and analysis of legal proposals, the continuous reflection on ethical conflicts that may arise in healthcare practices, and taking a stance on legal reform proposals put forward at both the national and regional levels.

After its official accreditation as an Ethics Committee, the CEA's activity has been marked by adaptation to new requirements and functioning.

Objectives

  • Continue with the initiated process of renovating and revitalizing the Committee.
  • To strengthen the team and consolidate the work rhythm. To facilitate this, it is planned to work with the “pill” methodology. Brief writings, following discussion and debate, which will enable a quite agile rhythm.
  • Attend to casuistic inquiries from diverse individuals, institutions, or situations.
  • During the CEA's work, it is anticipated that topics or areas of greater depth or scope will emerge, which will likely require a different pace and methodology of work.
  • Consolidate a work axis on children and adolescent issues.
  • Promote through the Foundation's website, the dissemination and outreach of its work and proposals.
  • Promote active presence on social media (Twitter and others), echoing our stances on current affairs.
  • Celebration of a workshop on “Basic Rights in Psychiatric Hospitalizations”.
