Mental health professionals who are members of AEN-Association of Mental Health Professionals want to express our deepest unease and indignation regarding the events that occurred on November 25th outside the CAP de Creu de Barberá in Sabadell, where, according to the information consulted, a young woman ended up in a crisis situation, physically restrained by the Mossos d’Esquadra with a Taser gun and ultimately arrested.
Unfortunately, this is not the first coercive action taken against people in need of mental health care, and we hope it will be the last. The brutality of this instance calls for us to speak out again.

At this time of oversaturation of the healthcare and mental health network, the use of force, of whatever type, to contain a malaise that, to be adequately addressed, would require more professionals, more consultation time, and mental health care models adapted to people's needs, becomes even more evident.

On the other hand, if the intervention of FOPs is necessary at any point, in order to adapt their actions to the context, it is clear that they require specific mental health training so that absolutely disproportionate actions are not repeated.
like this.

Given the gravity of the situation, we demand a rigorous analysis by the competent bodies.

Sincerely
ACPSM-AEN
