{"id":6282,"date":"2017-05-29T13:08:24","date_gmt":"2017-05-29T11:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=6282"},"modified":"2025-06-22T09:35:37","modified_gmt":"2025-06-22T07:35:37","slug":"el-6e-congres-catala-de-salut-mental-debat-sobre-els-efectes-de-les-migracions-i-exilis-en-la-salut-mental","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/la.fccsm.net\/en\/congressos-salut-mental\/6e-congres-catala-de-salut-mental-2017\/el-6e-congres-catala-de-salut-mental-debat-sobre-els-efectes-de-les-migracions-i-exilis-en-la-salut-mental\/","title":{"rendered":"The 6th Catalan Congress on Mental Health discusses the effects of migration and exile on mental health."},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>With the title \u2018Migrations, Exile, and Refuge: Human Rights and Mental Health\u2019, the meeting will bring together approximately 300 professionals from June 1st to 3rd in Barcelona <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>It is organized by the Catalan Mental Health Congress Foundation, the College of Social Work of Catalonia, and the College of Physicians of Barcelona.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From June 1 to 3, the 6th Mental Health Congress will be held at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona with the title <em>\u2018Migration, Exile, and Refuge: Human Rights and Mental Health\u2019<\/em>, which will bring together around 300 professionals from various fields\u2014health, social care, migration...\u2014to debate and share concerns and reflections on global migratory movements. Among the speakers is a psychiatrist of Syrian origin <strong>Nabil Sayed-Ahmad Beirut\u00ed<\/strong>, the professor of Moral and Political Philosophy <strong>Margarita Boladeras<\/strong>, the philosopher and writer <strong>Josep Ramoneda<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday the 31st, a preliminary event will be held in tribute to the Argentinian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst <strong>Valentin Barenblit<\/strong>, at 7 PM in the Sal\u00f3 de Cent of Barcelona City Hall, presided over by the First Deputy Mayor, <strong>Gerardo Pisarello<\/strong>. The inauguration of the Congress on Thursday, June 1st at 9 AM will feature the Secretary of Equality, Migrations, and Citizenship of the Generalitat, <strong>Oriol Amor\u00f3s<\/strong>, and the Commissioner of Health for Barcelona City Council, <strong>Gemma Tarafa<\/strong>, in addition to the representatives of the organizing entities: <strong>\u00c0ngels Vives<\/strong> (FCCSM President) I <strong>N\u00faria Carrera<\/strong> (TSCAT). Saturday the 3rd will close the meeting, the Minister of Health of the Generalitat, <strong>Toni Com\u00edn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the call is to build proposals capable of reducing the risks associated with migration and improving coexistence and citizen cohesion, thereby increasing population health and well-being levels. The interdisciplinary perspective will accommodate a large number of individuals and groups with experiences and knowledge linked to the dramatic situation we are experiencing in Europe with the refugee crisis. In the face of this reality, the Congress aims to be another element of denunciation and mobilization to respond to it, in this case from the perspective of community mental health.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Mental health impact<\/strong> <\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Migration processes involve a high burden of individual suffering and, at the same time, misunderstanding and inadequate responses in the communities that could provide a welcome.
