Francesc Tosquelles, like a sewing machine in a field of<\/span> blat <\/span><\/strong><\/a>is the title of an exhibition that, from April 8 to August 28, the CCCB proposes, and which explores the avant-garde practices that psychiatrist Francesc Tosquelles carried out in the therapeutic, political, and cultural fields.<\/p>\n

Francesc Tosquelles<\/strong>\u00a0(Reus, 1912 \u2013 Granges d\u2019\u00d2lt, 1994) was a pioneer in addressing the social roots of mental illness and transformed psychiatric institutions during the Republic and under European fascism. Today, he is an inspiration for thinking about mental health policies in times of extreme crisis.<\/p>\n

This is a key figure well known to all of us, to whom we dedicated the Memorial of our 1st congress (1999). Tosquelles was a necessary benchmark and stimulus in the field of public mental health. Already a psychiatrist, he decided to revolutionize mental health practice and the treatments to which those considered mad were subjected at the time.<\/p>\n

Together with the CCCB and the CEESC, the CCSM Foundation recommends this exhibition and offers you a special event on May 12th, where we will have for the presentation\u00a0Carles Guerra<\/strong>, art critic, teacher, and researcher, who, together with\u00a0Joana Mas\u00f3<\/strong>, are responsible for this project.<\/p>\n

This activity is carried out in collaboration with the\u00a0CCCB\u00a0<\/a>in coordination with the <\/strong><\/em>CEESC,<\/a><\/strong><\/em> entity that oversees the quality conditions in which their professional practice takes place, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the people and groups they serve, with the participation of citizens, professionals, and other organizations, such as the FCCSM.<\/em><\/p>\n
